The Weekender: All the Eats, Drinks, Flowers, and Sunshine

I had a very full weekend a few weeks ago and I thought it might be fun to take you along for the ride. Follow along for a very active weekend.

Friday and the Perfectly Spicy Happy Hour

The weather was absolutely perfect last Friday, a whopping 77 degrees to be exact. In celebration of spring and it’s official arrival here in the south, one of my best girlfriends and I decided it was well-past time for a spicy margarita happy hour.

We decided to go to Salt and Lime Cabo Grill in North Raleigh. If you haven’t been, then you need to. Definitely try the guacamole with pineapple. The tacos are good too but we just got margs and chips and guac. You know we had to get a seat out on their back patio to soak up some of the sun.

Saturday and All the Premium Content

Saturday, the same girlfriend Rebekah and I went to a indoor cycling class at CycleBar in the morning and then went to get some photos in the lovely weather before heading downtown for lunch. We like to stop by Raleigh Raw sometimes and get poke!

As you may or may not know, I am obsessed with dogs and it is my personal mission to pet them all if I can. Even though I have my own angel to love on doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate all the other good boys and girls out there. I will actually run across the street to pet a dog, no question. I’m that committed to my goal.

I need you to appreciate his bandana and cute scrunchie face. Those tiny little paws too, I’m sorry but I cannot handle the cuteness! These are just a few of the cuties I had met along my journey.

Little City Brewing is the absolute cutest and I live for the decor. I go nuts for some great mid-century modern decor, it’s a real problem honestly. I normally hate sitting at the bar because I hate sitting on stools, but their bar stools are so cute and so comfy because they have a comfy leather back with some pin-tucked details.

IMG_1036.JPG

How cute are these drinks though! On Saturday’s they have $6 French 76s which are typically in my experience called French 75s, but I am not one to nitpick a half-price cocktail! Definitely try their French 76 out especially on Saturdays!

The beet salad!

Their fried shrimp things, these were ok.

The famous truffle mac’n’cheese.

Sunday and the Fun Day

We got two free Cycle Bar classes so I figured I’d do back-to-back days of classes since I was doing so much eating this weekend. Let me tell ya, Offline Premium perks really bring us together. I managed to be cycling next to two local food bloggers and we ended up becoming friends and grabbing brunch after. You should definitely check them out here at Triangle Drinks and Discovering Raleigh.

We had all been wanting to check out Hummingbird for awhile now, so we decided to head there for brunch. They had the cutest neon pink sign and I think I need one. They had these funky colored lights as well that in theory sound weird, but in execution they totally work! What do you think?

IMG_1116.JPG

The food was picture perfect and delicious to boot. You should definitely check out Hummingbird Raleigh when you get the chance! It’s worth a taste…

This bar though. Adorbs! I love the funky yellow stools and the overall funky vibe of this place. I will say, it is a little bit small on the inside, but on a nice day they have a great little patio.

We rounded out our weekend with dinner at Bonefish (left, below). We seemed to be doing a lot in the North Hills neighborhood this weekend. This restaurant is a chain and although I try not to eat at chains very often because I like to support local businesses, my friend had a buy-one-get-one entree coupon and I love a good bargain. I can’t believe I had never been here before though!

I had way too much delicious food this day and this weekend in general. My friend Rebekah who is launching her own food blog (woo!) has been testing all her too good to be healthy recipes on me and my waistline is not a fan, but my tummy is! She made me the desserts in the bottom right, salted caramel buckeyes and chocolate raspberry cupcakes. I could have died and went to heaven right after I finished up all those buckeyes…

Please go and check out her blog Beck Eats World, she makes the best food I promise! She’s been forcing me to eat all her delicious foods, it’s a blessing and a curse being her best friend!

Well, I hope you enjoyed tagging along on one of my weekend adventures. What do you like to do on weekends? What did you do this weekend?

Sunday Adventures: Rainbow bagels, city views and bookstores

Sundays are my favorite, there's just something about them. I know most people dislike Sunday because it means their week is starting and that means going back to work. Even with that, I still adore Sundays. I feel like Sundays are reserved for doing only whatever you want to for the whole day. Not many people want your time and attention on Sunday and if they do, they respect whatever reason you may have for saying no, which on other days, isn't always the case. I had a pretty fun Sunday recently, and I wanted to walk you through some of the fun things I got into.

First things first, a new bagel shop opened up downtown and I had been dying to try it because I heard they had rainbow bagels! I had heard of rainbow bagels a few years ago, but that was in New York where food trends usually start. I hadn't seen them anywhere else until now, so you can imagine how excited I was.

IMG_7543.JPG

As you can see, it is the cutest thing ever and could brighten up nearly anyone's morning! When I was reading the menu, I couldn't find them on there so I was really bummed, but they do have them! You just have to look behind the counter in the baskets and you'll see them!

I was clearly very excited about the bagel as you can see! The verdict: They were so good! I mean it was just a plain bagel with cream cheese, but still! They use food coloring on the dough and just twist the different colors together, but never has a plain bagel ever made me so happy, so I'll call it a win. Plus it wasn't that expensive, like $2-3 with cream cheese. You can find them at NY Bagel on Glenwood in downtown Raleigh!

Next up, my friend took me to a spot that had some amazing city views and I got some great pictures to share with y'all.

Lastly, we had both wanted to check out a bookstore near me that my friend said was really good. He did not lead me astray, the bookstore was magical. I had not been to a bookstore in quite awhile, but one thing my mom did with me often was take me to the bookstore and library and let me pick out my own books. I used to love going with her and I loved reading. One summer, in sixth grade I believe, I read 100 books!

The bookstore we went to was Quail Ridge Books in the North Hills neighborhood of Raleigh. They had a beautiful entryway to the Kid's section that I didn't get a picture of, unfortunately, but I did get some pretty good photos from the bookstore that I will share with you now.

I ended up getting two books and a poster of text from my favorite book Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice that I need to get framed and hang up. I will post the books and the synopses for y'all in case any of you are readers as well! These books will go nicely with my New Years Resolution to read 12 books this year, as you guys may remember. I have read 3.5 books so far!

Thanks for following me along on my Sunday adventures, I hope you enjoyed it! Please let me know if you like these kinds of posts or you have anything you'd like me to try and/or write about!

It's the Best Time of the Year

*This post is super late, my apologies. Life got away from me. But exciting things are coming! Stay tuned!*

My favorite time of year is fall. If I could find a place that had fall all year round, I’d be living there ASAP. Since fall is my favorite season, you know I had to partake in all of the festivities! This will be a compilation of all of the autumn activities that we partook in.

Farm Stands, Cider Mills, and Pumpkin Picking -- Oh My!

IMG_6640.JPG

I love me a good farm stand and the one down the street from where I live is right up my alley. They also sell a lot of plants as well. I liked to get my produce here all fall.

IMG_6521.JPG

Then we had to make the trip to a cider mill and corn maze. Luckily enough for us, there was one near us that had all that and more in one convenient location. Pictured above, you’ll see thy even sell corn on the cob and bbq ha! The Midwest is an interesting place,  let me tell ya.

Next up, was one of my favorite adventures, picking pumpkins. I can't believe I had never done this before, being the autumn fanatic that I am. We took my pup Fitz along with us and he really seemed to enjoy it. We even tried to have him ride in the cart, but he only did so for about 0.2 seconds.

IMG_6555.JPG

We just had to get a little family portrait with this ham!

IMG_6559.JPG

He's so majestic, isn't he?

IMG_6587.JPG

Two of my mini gems from the picking, I also got one rather large white pumpkin as well. I didn't even know there was such a thing as white pumpkins!

Halloween 2017

I'll give you a few moments to take a guess what we were dressed as...

IMG_6752.JPG

Well... any correct guesses? We were party animals!

IMG_6788.JPG

This party animal may have partied a little too hard...

Thanksgiving 2017

IMG_6870.JPG

I spent Thanksgiving with my boyfriend Brian and his family in Wisconsin and let me tell you it's somehow 10x colder in Wisconsin than Michigan. Even though that the only thing separating Wisconsin and Michigan is one Great Lake. Our faces suffered the wind chill greatly to get this photo, you're welcome internet fam.

Few questions for you guys (I love chatting with you guys down in the comments):

What's your favorite season?

What did you do for the holidays?
